@doctor.nick1: We can see Swan-neck deformities whenever there's an issue affecting the volar plate of the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP). The volar plate prevents hyperextension of the joint and can be affected in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, hypermobility, or after a trauma. 👉 Silver ring splints can be used to stabilize the PIP joint but in some cases surgery may be required. #swan #hand #hypermobility #arthritis
