![TAWHID VS. PAGANISM 🕋 Let’s break down the truth of traditional Islam with clear evidence. 1. Monotheism is the Root, Not Paganism Islam did not adopt pagan rituals; it restored the pure, uncompromising monotheism (Tawhid) of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) AS. The Kaaba was originally built for the worship of the One True God. Pagan Arabs later introduced idols into it, which the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ completely purged. “And [mention, O Muhammad], when We designated for Abraham the site of the House, [saying], ‘Do not associate anything with Me and purify My House for those who perform Tawaf…’” (Surah Al-Hajj 22:26) 2. The Black Stone: A Lesson in Obedience (Ta’at) Sunni Muslims do not pray to the stone, nor do we believe it holds independent divine power, brings good luck, or answers prayers. We kiss it strictly out of love and emulation (Ittiba’) of the Prophet ﷺ. Spiritual Symbolism in Traditional Sunni Islam According to classical Sunni scholarship (the Ash’ari and Maturidi schools of creed, alongside the great Sufi masters), Islamic rituals are deeply spiritual actions rooted in submission to Allah’s command, not physical objects. Kissing the stone is a symbolic renewal of our primordial covenant with Allah. It is an act of pure devotion (Ibada), where the physical world connects with spiritual reality, completely antithetical to pagan idolatry which treats physical objects as actual gods or intercessors.
