I’m forever upset at MAPPA for abandoning YOI after dragging us fans along for, what, 7 years? YOI MADE MAPPA POPULAR! They wouldn’t have gotten all of the million projects that they were taking on without it. Genuinely upsetting to think about. I LOVED watching YOI every week, and it was one of the few anime’s where I’d watch the opening and ending without skipping it, too.

like it was so influential that I remember seeing a lot of anime fans tuning into the winter Olympics for the first time! it inspired people to figure skate! Skaters from around the world skate to the songs. like, YOI was that girl!

This is the reason why i can never love Mappa, and it irks me to the core when my friends defender the studio because of jjk. I believe jjk would have survive and found success with out Mappa, Mappa would not have survive without YoI.

People don't believe me when I tell them that the final episode of YOI had multiple anime websites crashing and even Tumblr was basically unusable that day. It changed the landscape of how anime is perceived as a staple of pop culture. We will never have another YOI
