Never had children. Never wanted children. But nursing and parenting are similar in that it takes a village. I will alway cover someone pump session. Here’s some water and a lactation cookie. Put your feet up and do it to it!!

As a mom & an ER nurse it was seriously the hardest year of my life pumping. No one wanted to watch my pts. I got told “ew that’s gross” and went HOURS without being able to pump & got mastitis 2x. Thank you for this ❤

Love this. I always felt horrible having to leave the floor when I needed to pump.. I could tell some were annoyed with me, but like… I gotta feed my baby.

When I was pumping for my oldest, one of my older child free by choice coworkers would ALWAYS cover me. On one condition. I had to watch the Jodi Arias trial and give a dramatic reenactment of updates 🤣🤣

As a pumping floor nurse it’s either one of two reactions; “Hell yea girlfriend you are SUPERWOMAN” or “must be nice I haven’t even had lunch today” like I’m sorry, all my patient care is complete 98% of the time I just need you to make sure no one codes while I’m gone 🙃. What other people have 12-13 hours to do I only have 10

As a new mom it’s been the hardest thing. In a women dominated field you would expect it to be not an issue but so many tell me to just give formula and stop pumping so i can focus on my patients

My favorite is when other people use the lactation room as a nap space and then act like it’s an inconvenience when I need to get in there for my pump stuff 🙃😅

Had a coworker that needed to pump and she’d come up to me and be like “I’m so sorry do you mind if I pump for a little bit?” And I’d be like OMG YES GIRL FEED THAT BABY DONT FEEL BAD

I was so blessed with a boss that kept up with my pumping times better than me. She would often come to cover my patients bc it was time for me to go and I had forgotten 😂

As nurses, I feel that since we all have the same education, let’s act like it. We all know how infection works and not pumping leads to infection. Let’s be our friends’ infection prevention team! ❤

Dreading going back to work because I’m pumping for a surrogate baby I carried and delivered on 10/30 and I just know it’s gonna be an issue for some of my coworkers 🙃

I got questioned 50% of the time I needed to pump about why it took so long, why I was still going when the baby was 8 months, and why I had to go so often (every 4 hrs)

I am a mom too. HOWEVER, it does get annoying when I’m forced to cover a co worker who pumps. BUT in addition to pumping she goes to breakfast, lunch and break and pumps all at different times. It’s a little ridiculous.

I’m in hospice and I used to see 4 patients a day and now that I’m pumping I can only see 3 patients a day. I love it 🥰
