@lifewiththejewells: Some may wonder why we travelled 2 hours to have our 3-year-old assessed for autism. We were told by many professionals that her behaviours could be learned from her older sister, who also has additional needs. But deep down, we always felt it was more than that. After a screening with Psicon, they felt a full autism assessment would be beneficial. We made the decision to go private and paid £1,950 — not because it was easy, but because we wanted to make sure she has the right support in place before she starts school. Was it worth it? Absolutely. It’s the closure of knowing that others see what we see. It opens doors to support for when she may need it. And most importantly, it helps us understand our little girl better.
