The radiation was so intense that it interfered with electronic equipment, and early photographs are grainy because the radiation physically damaged the film. Workers had to use a remote-controlled camera and shoot around a corner using a mirror just to prove it existed. Even today, nearly 40 years later, it remains one of the most toxic and dangerous objects on the planet, slowly melting through the concrete foundation of the tomb.
