It’s actually not maleficent. That is the dragon that Merlin rescued as a baby egg and raised himself. It was supposed to be maleficent and that’s why there’s a little owed to her on the outside on your way in.

This is actually Merlin’s friend, not Maleficent. Though Maleficent was supposed to be referenced with the current dragon sleeping in her ribcage. That idea was scrapped as they thought it was “too dark for children”
