i think that’s because the first movie was for a theater release which would go on to potentially be nominated for awards, etc so everything needed to be polished. the new movie is very clearly just for fans to celebrate the final show. down to the interludes being full, showcasing the happy birthday etc. i def get what you mean though but i watched it from a perspective of a concert, not a movie

Well… just so you know there’s actually no difference between the lighting in the first or second film because it’s a stage production. The film production actually doesn’t have anything to do with the lighting because it’s pre-programmed and designed the same. The only thing the production has control over in a film like this is any cameras and post-production. The main difference with the “lighting” would actually be the colour grading which is done in post-production.
