Instead, he’s standing moments from death because of notes that simply do not match the dog standing in front of me. I took his video just minutes ago—this boy is gentle, sweet, soft‑eyed, and seeking connection. There was no baring teeth, no growling, no posturing… nothing even close to what’s written in his file. The shelter has marked him Rescue Only for “behavior,” and once you’re labeled that—especially after a recorded kennel fight—you are pushed straight to the front of the euthanasia line. Leo was involved in an altercation in the kennel earlier, but anyone who knows shelter life understands: overcrowding, fear, stress, and scraps of food on the floor can turn any confined space into chaos. It doesn’t define who he is. Right now, what does define Leo is how he leans in for affection, how he looks at you with hope, how he wants so badly to trust. He’s not posturing or lunging—he’s quietly pleading. This is a hail‑mary for Leo’s life. He could be gone any minute.
