I saw a homeless man holding a sign that said he would work for food, so I offered him an actual job. I even offered to give him rides until he could afford to take the BARTA bus. Despite that, he kept making excuses about why he couldn’t work. After realizing he wasn’t willing to take the opportunity, I told him I couldn’t help anymore and explained that the only help I could offer was a path toward real success through honest, hard work.

I stopped, I had a childhood friend that would run away from DCF custody to reunite with his drug addicted mother. She would panhandle & made him a pro. He was her favorite prop. The money rarely went to feeding him, but her habits. They lived in tents & he mastered fishing to feed himself. He was 13. 😳 sweetest kid really. I don’t give to panhandlers after he showed me the truth of it.💯

I never give them anything, I've seen with my own eyes, in St. Louis after their shift they walk to their car and drive off with a beer in hand and a smoke.
