The Biz w/Liz :
Everybody’s talking about the off-duty Kingston police officer, Anthony Simon involved in the shooting after that road rage incident and it seems like everyone already took a side. But maybe we should stop and ask some real questions before we rush to judge.
We all saw the same blurry video, but none of us were there. We don’t know what led up to that moment. What if that officer had multiple chances to avoid it , to call for backup, to drive away, to de-escalate like a TRAINED professional should?
And here’s something I can’t stop thinking about: WHY was his window down?????? This incident was going on for awhile most would be afraid knowin someone you engaged in road rage with is coming towards your car 🤦🏽♀️Would the window have been down IF he didnt have a gun? If he truly felt threatened, wouldn’t he have rolled it up, locked the doors, or kept his distance? Just makes me wonder , was the gun already out? Was it aimed at that man when he walked up to argue? Because if that’s what happened , WHY? Maybe when that man raised that knife, it wasn’t to attack , maybe it was fear, a defensive reaction to seeing a weapon pointed at him.
From what this community has seen, this officer has a history , a pattern of aggression, even toward people in mental health crises, that matters!
A weapon in the hands of someone who refuses to de-escalate is DANGEROUS on or off duty.
So yes, people have every right to feel uneasy. But instead of arguing over sides, i HOPE we can agree on one thing: , we want the truth. Let’s use our energy to push the Attorney General to do a full, transparent investigation because no one should be above the law, not the man who was shot , nor the officer who pulled the trigger.
Right, wrong, or in-between accountability is accountability. Let’s stop the speculation and start demanding real answers.
And to those who say police aren’t respected or supported by the community 👉🏽remember, respect goes both ways. The problem isn’t every officer
it’s the ones who think they’re above the law, who abuse the authority they were trusted with. If we want to rebuild trust, we need to start by filtering out the hotheaded, cold-hearted officers who don’t
