HOW? Just how? This just goes to show that progress isn't linear, having rocky moments is not a sign of failure and being psychologically ready is just as important as revision. I've tried to be fully transparent about my UCAT journey - the ups (however few of them there were), the downs, the deep-deep depths of despair. I've cried far too many times over the UCAT and let it tap into my insecurities far too much. I thought I wasn't good enough, let myself believe that I was a fraud who overworks herself to prove others to others that she is something she isn't. Why are others studying so much less and doing so much better - what is wrong with me? And in a moment of being so caught up in my thoughts and doubts, I said 'screw it'. I moved my exam, went to Spain and did NOTHING for a week. I listened to my body and my gut and it was the best decision I've ever made. 3 weeks ago, when my exam was supposed to be, I was a complete mess. I didn't believe in myself - I hated myself - and genuinely believed this was the end of my journey to my dream uni, Cambridge. I couldn't breathe. But going into my exam today, I was excited, I was ready, and I didn't feel like this exam was the end of the world. The immense pride I feel isn't primarily because of my score, it's because I got myself through something so hard in a way I know I wouldn't have been able to before. I saved myself before I could crumble and I have found the extent of productivity that can be found in a break, in a pause. I am so grateful for this goddawful experience because I have learned so much about myself and I believe it has made me a better, more balanced and more resilient person. And coming out with a 2490? I'll sure as hell take that. This score WAS NOT in the least expected. So thank all of you for coming along on my journey, and I could not be happier now! (p.s. No I did not proofread this) #ucat #studytok #year13 #medicine #cambridge
