@savanna_mae1: I used to hate my curly hair, it was such a place of shame for me due to lack of knowledge on how to manage it and the array of straight hair I saw around me growing up. I spent years treating my curls like European hair and getting frustrated that it never looked good. When the expense of constant weaves got too much, I decided to go natural and what followed was a difficult journey of acceptance, education and A LOT of trial and error. Having an understanding on how to treat my hair and giving it what it needs has been a game changer. Now I treat my hair like the beautiful afro that it is and with so much pride for my hair texture.
