@cam.bentley: Deadbugs for Core Strength Deadbugs are one of the most common core exercises given by trainers, and one of the most under coached. Here’s how I teach them: Lying on your back, raise your arms and legs with knees bent, both stacked over your shoulders and knees. The core work doesn’t come from rounding your back and ‘crunching’ into the deadbug. Your head stays on the floor and lower back is always touching the floor, but not rounded into the floor. As one leg extends out, the most common thing to happen is the lower back immediately lifts. That’d because the psoas muscle connects the upper leg to the lower back, and the psoas is staying tense to support yourself as you lower. But we want the psoas to lengthen, and we want the obliques and other core muscles to keep us stable. To get better, slowly extend one leg out as far as you can without lifting the lower back. Hold for 30 seconds, resisting the urge to lift off and slowly feeling your psoas lengthen. Rest and repeat on the other side. Repeat for 2-3 rounds each side, every other day for 2 weeks, and feel your hips open and your core get stronger 💪🏻 #prehab #exercisetips #corestrength #deadbug #Fitness
