@cass.bishop.sunris: The garbage that you collect in life, needs to be sorted. There’s items for the recycle… they can get melted down, burnt, used again. There’s items you can get money back for… pieces that can give you value. And there’s stuff that rots. But even the stuff that rots can be useful. You can make compost. You can feed what you are growing now, using things that once were just a stinky mess. I don’t hate this person. To be honest, my memories of them are mostly good. Probably partly because I didn’t know any better. But having a 16 year old child now… I can see a lot more clearly how wrong the whole thing was. They stole a whole era of my coming-of-age; of my childhood. I learned how to be a grown-up before I should have. Understanding this deeper now as a Mother myself, I have a lot of empathy for myself in my early 20’s. My early 20’s were the teens I never got. My biggest lesson in all this? Learn to connect with your inner child. They are waiting for you. They have things that they need you to hear. I love mine. She is strong, and kind, and sweet. She loves without inhibition. She smiles, and laughs, and hugs. I just also know how to watch out for her now; to hear her when she needs me. I understand how to be the safe adult for her. Don’t dismiss your inner child.
