I carry mace. I have had 2 dogs running loose try to attack. My dog won’t fight he tries running away. I have never used the mace but I have it.

I pulled my dog out of a dog fight with my neighbors pit bull by grabbing her back legs and quickly pulling her away. It worked and I didn’t get bit. Both dogs seemed confused. Maybe I was lucky or maybe this will help someone.

An umbrella can also be something easy to pop out / startle and create a barrier / distance. I feel for that girl though.. I too have been traumatized (never injured tho) and won’t walk my neighborhood due to off leash dogs. It’s really sad.

My kiddo was bitten by a German Shepard while riding a bike and got 6 stitches. Now we carry mase with us while on walks or bike rides. Always on our hands, ready to fire. It makes us feel safer knowing we have something to protect us in case of an emergency. Hope this helps!

The dog I fought off another got two black eyes and a scar across her face from me trying to wrestle her off another. The victim dog did not fight or that’s when she grabbed him, I got her under control in about 120 seconds, she did not attack me. 3k worth of doctor bills between me and him. I did not have the strength to get her off him and had to scream until my throat bled and someone grabbed her trachea shut. I almost passed out and she let me lead her away happy as a clam after. If she’d gone for me or the two other dogs nearby?

my dog wears his back pack with water bottles and poop bags which saved him injury when we were attacked. I had my golf club with me which after 3 hits made the rotty retreat. mace probably wouldn't work here as it is pretty windy. there's always loose aggressive big dogs here and it took me a year to get over it and walk alone with my dog.

1. Carry a small boat horn. No joke. It’s LOUD and can be used before they get too close. 2. It can be helpful to drop the leash to allow your dog an escape route. 3. It’s also ok not to walk your dog. Find sniff spots or provide home enrichment 💙

Saber brand stun guns/tazers make a very loud noise that is scary for the dogs like the airhorn wood but in the instance, you have a really crazy loose dog coming you can actually make contact and get the dog off your dog. I have used my stun gun, probably 20 times from a distance and they run.

Hi! Dog walker here. In my experience, pepper spray is not even worth carrying. I’ve sprayed three different dogs three different days directly in the nose and eyes, and it did nothing, they still made contact with my client and they didn’t start rubbing their face until after they were removed by the owners. I will say, however.

I don't leave the house with my dog without my phone, pepper spray, and Mr Ruger. I hope I never have to use anything like that but it's my responsibility to protect my dog and myself.

i’m the same way. i get scared of walking my dog alone due to so many dogs that get dumped in my neighborhood. i’ve seen people carrying sticks as they walk their dog in case

Also a cattle prod as a walking stick 👍 theyre waterproof, rechargeable, and give you distance. Great for walks in the woods too
