They weren't free samples or complimentary. It was a bowl of oranges the bartender used to make drinks. The customer took an orange and ate it, so the bartender charged him.

Yeah no so the restaurant *saw* him taking multiple slices and instead of warning him about the single slice rule they just let him eat as much as he wanted and silently added the charge to his bill?

a free sample means one or two. if he is sitting g there eating 1 or 2 oranges worth id charge SOMETHING not as much as 12 bucks but there would be a reflection. don't take it for granted

I mean me personally I would’ve payed the $12 but after that I would’ve just left the restaurant like they can keep the food they made or give it to someone else I wouldn’t care I just wouldn’t be eating there no more it’s simple as that if they wanted me to pay $12 for some oranges than ok I’d pay to be respectful because the fruit was consume and if they wanted me to pay then I’d pay but I wouldn’t be paying for the food I ordered because I hadn’t consumed that yet
