🚨 Ryan Giggs on the implications of relegating Manchester City from the Premier League: 🗣️ Ryan Giggs: “I’ve heard City fans saying that if Manchester City are relegated, the Premier League will lose billions in revenue and lose its European relevance. “I understand why they would say that. “But I think they’re confusing Manchester City with the Premier League itself. “The Premier League was the biggest league in the world before Manchester City became dominant, and it will still be one of the biggest leagues in the world without them. “People say, ‘The Premier League needs City.’ “Really? “Look at the clubs in England. “Manchester United. Liverpool. Arsenal. Chelsea. Tottenham. Newcastle. Aston Villa. “These clubs have enormous global fanbases. “And Manchester United in particular remains one of the biggest commercial clubs in world football. “United generate huge revenues because of the size of the club, the supporters, the sponsors and the global audience. “So if City go down, are people genuinely going to stop watching the Premier League? “Are broadcasters suddenly going to walk away? “Are sponsors going to disappear? “Are people around the world going to stop watching United against Liverpool, Arsenal against Chelsea, Newcastle against Tottenham? “Of course not. “And then there’s this argument about European relevance. “England will still have some of the biggest clubs in Europe competing in the Champions League and Europa League. “The Premier League doesn’t depend on one club to maintain its status. “I played for Manchester United for years. I know what happens when United are competing at the top. “The attention is enormous. “The commercial interest is enormous. “The global audience is enormous. “And that doesn’t disappear because another Manchester club is playing in the Championship. “If Manchester City are relegated because of a regulatory decision, then that’s something they have to deal with. “You can’t say, ‘Don’t punish us because the league might lose money.’ “If the rules matter, they have to matter when the consequences are serious. “And maybe that’s the part people are forgetting. The Premier League didn’t become globally relevant because of Manchester City. Manchester City became globally relevant because they were part of the Premier League.” [Source @UTD_Seth001 ]#manutd #mancity #manchestercity #creatorsearchinsights #capcut
