more about the backpack and where to find it 👇🏼🎒🥾 pack is @Ultimate Direction Fastpack 30L I had never heard of this brand but I was browsing @REI resupply section looking for a new hiking pack and decided to give it a try. Honestly the front pockets are what sold me and are still what I think is the best part of this pack. I can have my phone, snacks, camera, keys, and anything else important accessible without having to take the backpack off. It’s bigger than a regular hydration pack so I can use it for full day treks, canyoneering, and climbing. The pack itself doesn’t have a ton of support so it’s not meant to be packed SUPER heavy. There are detachable hip straps that I use when it’s packed full. I used it for each 14er I did last year so it was packed pretty full for those. I would have 2-3 liters of water, cold gear clothes, and a handful of extra snacks. Some reviews note shoulder pain but I haven’t had any issues with proper packing and the occasional use of the hip straps. SO I used a collapsible day bag on my 2 months in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam… why not use that again? Well, for that trip I didn’t plan to be gone for 2 months I thought I would only be out for 3 weeks. I also didn’t plan on doing any serious hikes. This trip I knew I would be doing Mt. Kinabalu, Mt. Rinjani, and a handful of other multi day hiking trips. I wanted to bring my best hiking pack for those and not my collapsible daypack. When do I use it as a second backpack?? Only on travel days that involve busses/ferries/trains/vans. I usually stuff it full of snacks and then can have my iPad easily accessible. For flying, if I have a free checked bag I will check by big bag and take the second backpack out as my carry on. Otherwise, it gets packed away and I only have the 40L @rei recycled ruckpack (carryon) and my @Cotopaxi Kapai 3L hip pack (personal item) for flight days. Backpack can be found at the l1nk in my bi0 :) #onebagtravel #solofemalebackpacker #backpackers #travelpacking
