Genesis chapter 1 speaks of the plan for new creation in Christ Jesus, verse 2 God saw the state of man a head of time before creating man Adam and Eve and their race. God saw that man's heart was full of darkness, man was in a state of confusion without hope. The spirit was hovering over waters symbolic of people waiting for the appointed time for redemption. The God said Light be and Light was. This Light is Jesus Christ who is man's light and life. so there is nothing like gap theory. Genesis one speaks of God's plan for redemption of man which was fulfilled when Jesus rose from the dead and now those who believe have received the Holy Ghost and that means they have light and no confusion to them who are in Jesus Christ.
