@brynn_ann: Sourdough Experiment: Cleaning Sourdough Starter Jars @Dough Dissolve vs. Regular Dish Soap I tested two different ways to clean my sourdough starter jars. Dough Dissolve is an enzyme-based cleaner with a clean ingredient list, and it did exactly what it promised. If you’re looking for something specifically designed to break down dough and starter residue…this is definitely an option worth checking out. As always, make sure to do your own research to decide what works best for YOU. Thank you so much for thinking of me, Alex & Alexis - wishing you nothing but the best on this exciting new adventure 💛 #sourdough #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughbread #sourdoughtok #sourdoughbaking
I think the point of the dough dissolve is you can then pour it down the sink. I use regular dish soap too but have a small strainer in my sink to catch all the larger stuff that doesn’t break up

I saw a lady on here just put hot water with a paper towel in the jar and shake it. I did it last night and IT WORKED. Total game changer!!!

Great results ✨ do you use those nets on your drain? Think they’re necessary?

I use vinegar and warm water in my starter jar and let it soak for like an hour or longer. I also have the nets on my sink drain and I swear I’ve never had a clump big enough to get caught

I thought you couldn't let any starter get down your drain or it would clog the pipes?

I’m not sure if I have a weak starter. I fed it whole wheat and bread flour a 1:5:5 ratio. It doubled in ~6 hours. And kept rising till around the 8 hour mark. Can you let me know what you think?

I soak mines in dishpan with hot water and use my brush and it cleans it right off. The new product is pricey.
