There has been about 900 gun homicides in Australia over the last 30 years. (30 incidents yearly). While gun control is measurably effective, it will never bring the number down to zero.

Off topic but it’s incredibly suspicious how little the Vegas shooting isn’t talked about. The sheer scale of how many guns he had, how he would have had to reload 12 AR-15s 3+ times in less than 10 minutes and set everything up without getting caught is too suspicious to believe.

Our gun laws make me so proud to be an Australian. We value life, we value safety, we value our people. This is an isolated issue that is going to result in gun laws tightened even more, which most Aussies are supporting.

Off topic, but the vegas shooting was very suspicious, when you dig into it, it doesn't add up or make sense
Australia is not like America. Unfortunately, nothing would change in the states

Yeah Australia really is nothing like the US we look to it with nothing except horrified disbelief when it comes to lack of gun laws

I remember seeing port Arthur on the news. Then I remember the piles of guns being handed in or confiscated. We are NOTHING like America.

As sad as it is, us Australians are not as desensitised to shootings. It shows how much people look into the clear facts.

Australia and United States completely different in how you can control guns. It’s much harder to bring guns into Australia because we are surrounded by water, guns were less prevalent at the time it was much more available in America at the time Australia started heavy gun laws earlier and there is also a lot less a lot less people in Australia than in America also making it much easier

Mind you… a survivor of Parkland recently had to relive that same trauma all over again bc of the Brown 🔫. Yet somehow, people in this country are still telling themselves 🔫 control won’t work and that there’s no point in trying 🙄

The liberal party here (conservative party) has tried to act like the Republican Party numerous times, even their former leader was acting just like trump. But us Aussies can agree on one thing: our hatred for Americans. So the tactic they try is obvious and fails.

Thank you for having such an intelligent look at our situation. This is the 2nd worst shooting we've had in 30 years and that to me says our gun laws work. Is there still crime? Yes. Do cims still get a hold of weapons? Yes. Do we feel safe sending our kids to school? Yes. The thought of America scares me. I would be too scared to send my kids to school or uni. Our politicians went straight into parliament the following day to tighten out gun laws. I don't think our mass shooting can be compared to America's.

Australia is like America in its genocide, racism, exploitation and mass incarceration of Indigenous people. Australia is a deeply racist society, like the US. They are clones in many ways. However, Australia has a much better social welfare state with health care, education and housing support. And they don't have a gun culture like the US. Shootings are rare there.

Over 400 homicides with knives though last year violence is everywhere it's Human Nature and the best way to protect yourself is worth the gun I look at gun ownership like car insurance do you have car insurance yes do you use your car insurance every day no but it's there for when you need it look at the reason why the shooting happened to it was due to someone's religious beliefs if someone has an extreme view that's going to cause you harm it calls for extreme Ways to protect yourself
