What began with preparation and spiritual readiness, deepened through sacred ritual engagement, has now culminated in the receiving of the consecrated Icon of Ọ̀bàtálá from the World Ọ̀bàtálá Temple, Igbo Itapa, Ilé-Ifẹ̀. Today, what was once anticipated becomes tangible. What was approached with reverence is received with gratitude. And what has been consecrated through sacred processes begins a new chapter with its recipient. For Makia Ifalewa Àdùnní Dada, this is not merely the receiving of an object. THE SANCTITY OF IGBO ITAPA Within the traditional understanding surrounding Ọ̀bàtálá in Ilé-Ifẹ̀, Igbo Itapa occupies a uniquely sacred position. The World Ọ̀bàtálá Temple is regarded within this tradition as an authoritative spiritual centre for Ọ̀bàtálá, with its own established rites, procedures, observances and taboos. This is why the process of receiving Ọ̀bàtálá through Igbo Itapa is understood to be different from simply acquiring an image or representation of the Òrìṣà elsewhere.
