If I could do my recent trip over again, I’d either anchor in Shinjuku for my Tokyo period, or in Asakusa/Ueno, and prioritize being as close to the subway as possible. I found myself very frustrated in Komeido at one point.

I love Asakusa & stay on the Sumida City side of the river a few blocks from the Asahi HO. Pretty chill & still easy to get around Tokyo on the Ginza line to say Shibuya or take it to Ueno to catch the Yamanote.

It’s best to find a hotel that’s near a station 🚉 that runs on the Yamanote Line. It will make it easy to get around and hit every location you will want to see!

Akasaka seemed much easier and more central to everything. Better radius to all the areas.

We stayed in the Shimbashi area, really convenient for getting round Tokyo, also a very short walk to the Miyazaki Clock.

I’m looking at Mimaru because we’re traveling with wife and adult kids. The apartment hotel is appealing. Thinking Tokyo Shinjuku West but also Tokyo Staion East for ease of airport and one day at Disney Sea. Thoughts?
