@nowyousee_light: 💬 Which one do you see the most online? Arguments don’t fail because people are stupid, they fail because of logical fallacies. These are some of the most dangerous thinking mistakes people use every day: • Attacking the person instead of the idea • Twisting someone’s words to win • Presenting false choices • Emotional manipulation disguised as logic Once you see them, you can’t unsee them. #criticalthinking #mindset #psychology #education #fyp

See all of these all the time on social media especially ad hominem and appeal to authority and often used in conjunction especially where someone steps outside the hive mind.

These occur often with talks of religion. Two sides of the same coin where atheists and religious are both using these

My favorite is the Appeal To Common Sense Fallacy. Used a lot by people on social media, claiming something (often ridiculous or oversimplified) is true by stating it is "common sense".

Etymological fallacy is one of the worst. People misusing words and saying their definitions are set in stone and key terms should be understood by the construct of their parts

What about the ‘slippery slope’ fallacy. That is also a favourite of politicians and it is very irksome. Just because you move a policy slightly from A to Z it doesn’t mean that it will inevitably end up at Z at some point in the future.
