I’m a lawyer - this isn’t legal advice, but I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t get married. People get married for reasons beyond romantic love all the time (money, insurance, etc). It’s fraud when you’re trying to fool immigration, but that doesn’t seem to be what is happening here. State laws may vary, but I think it’s at least worth considering.

You should be able to grant legal power of attorney to the non custodial parent so that both individuals are able to be legally involved in the child’s care and upbringing!

Marriage is just something on paper saying you’re paired with someone. I only got married bc it made homeowners insurance cheaper.

I have no legal advice but a question…is it possible for one of you to adopt her after the other? Like when Jolie adopted her first daughter and then Pitt later adopted her too? But they weren’t married at the time so it could legally be similar to your situation.😅Im spit balling here 🤣

There is a family on Instagram who has done this. One of them actually adopted the children (2 separate adoptions) and then they have some type of guardianship for the other.

I'm am adoption specialist with the state I live in. I wouldn't believe it's fraud for y'all to get married to adopt! seems like it would be in the best interest of the child for the adoption to go forward and if that's what it takes that's not fraud. 🥰

I don’t think it’s fraud unless you were trying to get a green card. I think you can legally get married for whatever reason you want that’s not to gain something like citizenship.
