İlteriş Kut :
Fahrettin Pasha staged a historic resistance in Medina, one of the most challenging fronts of World War I. He was tasked with defending Medina in 1916 following the outbreak of the British-backed Arab Revolt. For two and a half years, despite shortages of supplies, ammunition, and medicine, he defended the city with extraordinary determination, together with his soldiers and the people. He even issued a fatwa stating that eating locusts was permissible in religion in order to sustain the resistance against starvation. Even after the Ottoman Empire withdrew from the war and signed the Armistice of Mudros, he refused to surrender, declaring, "I will not abandon the Prophet's tomb." However, in 1919, he was forcibly taken prisoner against his will. This legendary defense earned him the titles "Defender of Medina" and "Desert Lion," making him one of the honorable symbols of Turkish history.

Gustav was not defending Sweden, Harold was only defending his own usurpation of the crown. Joan of Arc did die defending France but she wasn’t the country’s leader. So unless you didn’t mean that sure.
