Yes, it's rude. They think you "make it about yourself" So you need to change back to them after like "so, yeah thats why I can relate, but tell me a bit more about this and how you felt in the situation." To give them back the attention

as a highly empathetic neurotypical I do the same thing and feel like that would make them know that you can relate on a deeper level. I do let them speak first and am very careful of how I start relating my similar experience, as in I don't interrupt them to start telling my story

Ppl always shame neurodivergent about everything. Feels like some ppl don't even wanna understand. Like neurodivergent brain is different. It's not something u should tryin to "fix" or change. Most of the problems neurodivergent ppl suffer are caused by society or ppl. Ofc adhd etc can be hard for person itself. But we could just accept that not everyone is neurotypical and let them be themselves and not trying to make them act like neurotypical cus they're not
