Honestly, before pitching a bunch, I think it helps a lot to focus on building your “brand” first. Posting consistently lets you improve your video skills, figure out what works in your niche, and grow an audience. That also makes it easier to get gifted collabs to use in your portfolio and affiliate links for extra income.
People say you don’t need a following to do UGC, but from my experience, brands trust you more and find you more easily when you already have content and an audience. I tried UGC at around 1k followers and didn’t get far, but once I focused on growing my Instagram and YouTube, more opportunities started coming to me. I have over 22k on instagram and it’s by far the best social platform to get brands coming to you.
When pitching, what works best is offering value. I create outdoor and fishing content, so I show brands exactly how their product would fit into my videos and solve a problem for me. Brands love when you can show the product actually being used in real conditions, so when they check my socials that aligns well. I also follow the brands socials and engage with their content sometimes weeks before pitching. Consistency and having a clear niche really make a difference! If I can do it, anyone can! Just keep posting and make content you actually love! It definitely doesn’t happen overnight, but all it takes is one or a few videos to pop off and you can easily grow an engaged audience!
