@sacramentourbanmedia916: A Washington, D.C., father is being held in a Florida jail after authorities say his toddler daughter drowned while he was holding her in a backyard hot tub during a family vacation at an Airbnb. According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on Nice Court in Kissimmee shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday following reports of an unresponsive child. Paramedics rushed the 20-month-old girl to a nearby hospital, but she was pronounced dead roughly an hour later. Investigators say the child’s father, 33-year-old Reynard #TyroneHough, told detectives that his daughter woke up during the night and wanted to be with him. He said he took her outside to the property’s hot tub and held her in his arms. Hough admitted he fell asleep for about 20 minutes and woke up when he felt the child’s head slump downward. Hough reportedly told police he immediately realized something was wrong because the toddler was limp. He ran inside to alert the child’s mother, but deputies noted he did not initially mention that they had been in the hot tub or that the child may have drowned. When first responders arrived, the girl was unresponsive and foaming at the mouth, according to court documents. In a probable cause affidavit, deputies wrote that Hough could not provide a reasonable explanation for bringing his non-swimming 1-year-old daughter into a hot tub approximately 37 inches deep at around 3 a.m., with outside temperatures near 55 degrees. Investigators also noted that Hough said he was coming down from the effects of alcohol at the time. During a post-Miranda interview, Hough admitted he had been drinking and had taken “two different types of unknown narcotics” earlier in the night.
