It’s been a while since an update. 💗 Following a successful surgery Betty wasted no time in wanting to get home and we were able to be discharged 3 nights after! We also signed her paperwork for randomisation for the next part in her treatment - Betty is entered in a clinical trial which one of the test points is to see what is better, one set of high dose chemo then a stem cell transplant or 2. The standard in the UK currently in 1 so it gave us a 50% chance of one or another. We felt like we were in a good place with a score of 2, her original score was 28! But we then received a call from our oncologist to say there was an issue 😔 Betty still has lesions on her liver, these are not showing as any longer being active Neauroblastoma but as they are still there, there is a small chance of microscopic decease so with that it has been decided to add in additional chemotherapy with immunotherapy to try and get rid of the lesions, although this feels like a step back we know this IS the right decision and give the a greater chance of becoming clear! So we are quite literally waiting for the call to say her drugs have arrived, if we go in tomorrow we can slip out before Christmas but if not we are going to have to celebrate Christmas in hospital 😥 but as I have always said we will celebrate wherever we are! Alongside all of this our incredible friend @hazlambo🎗️ has dedicated his evening and weekends to raising money for our beautiful girl to go on a giant shopping spree once she’s is feeling better, alongside this already incredible thing to do literally pit of the kindness of his heart whilst still recovering from his own diagnosis he raised money for the royal marsden hospital baby and teen unit for Christmas gifts and he doesn’t plan to step there! Harry you are one incredible person, yourself and Courtney putting the amount of effort in just restored my faith that there is still selfless people in the world. We appreciate you so much!
