@itsdilarakaan: Unboxed: Bangladesh's Victory Day Did you know Bangladesh marks two dates for its independence? 26 March 1971 was the declaration. 16 December 1971 was the victory. Declaration and victory are not the same thing, and both matter. For all my awesome Bengalis who celebrate Victory Day, happy Victory Day. For those who are equally awesome but don’t celebrate this date, I hope you were able to learn something new today. If you’re Bengali, you’ll recognise the stories passed down by your parents. If you’re not, would you like to know what Bengalis had to endure to win their freedom in part 2? #bangladesh #bijoydibos #victoryday
Could have mentioned the role of India in securing that independence

I always used to get confused which day was the victory day as I sometimes witnessed people celebrating in February, march and December. Thanks for the information and clearing my confusion.

Pakistan surrendered on 13th December 1971 to the Mukthi Bahini.
India come to steal the victory on the last week.
The Indian army shot down General M.A.G Osmani’s helicopter in Sylhet to stop him from attending the surrender ceremony so General Arora can have General Niazi signe the surrender document with India written next to Bangladesh.
General Niazi said this on his interview.
