Not a chance. $150k is dangerous to both people. NTA. Say he’s being financially abusing sure, but then let her go bankrupt.

I would have absolutely said in front of everyone and tell them she had 150k in debt that *I* paid off and sold x, y, and z to do so.

My husband and I had separate finances as well. We both make good money. We split all our bills 50/50 and any large purchases are discussed before hand. And then what’s left is our own to spend as we like. It works for us and we are transparent about what each person has in their personal account.

He shouldn’t do it. She needs to figure it out for herself

No not wrong that’s a lot of debt. Those friends can help get out then.

it sounds like he hasn't bailed her out yet. I'd suggest covering some payments to ensure she doesn't go to collections or get repo on the car but make her cover the rest.

if she was bailed out unconditionally it would have gotten 2x as bad.
