Sometimes, we merely surrender to the avoidance of the one we love deeply. It’s not us giving up on them, it’s us giving in to what they showed us thru their behaviors to be what they truly want- the benefit of a relationship without reciprocating commitment and accountability. If they wanted “forever” then they wouldn’t push away true intimacy that’s grounded in authentic love. We can’t control the behaviors desires or choices of others, but we can honor their decision to push away our patience, presence, and safety with their unhealthy or avoidant choices that unfortunately do have consequences. And FYI, while they’re quickly rebounding to a temporary distraction to move on, we are silently healing and coping with that painful decision we had to make to maintain our own dignity. Loving someone doesn’t mean tolerating disrespect. On the contrary, loving them is respecting their avoidance and granting them the freedom they crave, even when it shatters our souls.

I don’t agree. Sometimes leaving is the last resort, for your own sanity and peace of mind. Maybe it’s easier to delude oneself to make the mind belive it wasn’t worth it in totality. But in truth, it doesn’t matter who leaves or who is left. If you gave, communicated and wasn’t met with the same intensity, you will ALWAYS be the one that got away

Unless you treated that person badly, threatened divorce when they are pregnant, told lies about them to others etc - there’s sometimes very valid reasons for walking out on someone, particularly if they cannot repair what they have done
