Not all lost attraction is the same, and the difference matters. Sometimes desire dims simply because a relationship got comfortable. But sometimes it’s something else entirely: your body pulling away from a person you haven’t felt safe with in a while. And no date night or weekend away will fix that kind, because it was never about novelty. Resentment is one of the quietest robbers of attraction. It rarely arrives as one big blowup. It’s the accumulation, the hurt that never got repaired, the requests that went nowhere, the invisible load you carry alone. You keep saying “it’s fine” while your body keeps a running tally. And it’s almost impossible to feel drawn to someone you’re quietly angry at. Attraction powers down as a form of self-protection. Broken trust does the same thing. When a promise falls through, or you’ve been let down in a way that made you feel unsure, your system braces. And desire is often the first thing to go, because you can’t fully open to someone you’re not sure you can count on. Here’s what I want you to take from this. If your lost attraction is really buried resentment or broken trust, the move isn’t to manufacture a spark. It’s to address what’s underneath. Name the resentment instead of swallowing it. Say the thing you’ve been holding. Let repair actually happen. Because desire follows safety, not the other way around. This isn’t a sign it’s over. It’s usually a sign that something real has gone unspoken, and your body noticed before your mind was ready to. Have you noticed how connection and desire tend to move together for you? 💛 This information is for psychoeducational purposes only and not to be misconstrued as therapy. 💗 #CouplesTherapy #Resentment #RelationshipAdvice #Marriage #EmotionalSafety
