Stay at home mom as luxury and stay at home mom as a necessity are 2 totally different worlds. I stay at home because I cant afford daycare. They stay at home cause its a choice.

Food for thought, if someone offers to buy your kids presents, ask for memberships to things! Like we have museums, a zoo, indoor play places and aunts/uncles will buy the passes! 🩷

My exact issue 😭 that’s why when income tax comes, I’m going to invest in memberships! I saw it from another user and I can’t believe I never thought of it

I NEEDED this on a whole level like I’m ready to delete all socials because it makes me feel like I don’t do enough. But then it’s the only way I get to see the outside world.

Girl don’t let the internet make you feel less or unworthy as a normal sahm. You are doing what you need for your family!!! My son is still pretty young but I gave up my career for him! We still play, do arts and crafts, sometimes get food occasionally, go to the park ect ect. It’s normal. Do not feel bad, you are present, you are nurturing your babies that’s all that matters!

Pack a lunch and get those kids used to it. You can also pack special treats to combat the non vendor food/tasties. I used to see it as a burden but honestly the fact that my kids are happy when I bust out the cooler bag is everything. My wallet is happy, my family is healthily fed, there was no line up get anything, screw those coffee buying over consuming people. I take pride in doing things differently. The park, library, splash pads- time with you doing fun things is what they’ll remember. Also, you ever spent $200 just to go to the fair (entry and ride pass only) only for there to be 12 meltdowns? Doing all the things is over hyped. Good luck out there!

Keep in mind these people are probably going into debt doing all these things! I know that’s not always the case obviously, but you’re doing great. Comparison is the thief of joy… but I totally get it girl!!

I've been there and it was hard and frustrating to see these SAHMs with their Tahoes, Starbucks and daily target runs. We just got to where we're comfortable and it took years. It gets better and spending this time with your kids is so worth it.

Yesss! I keep wondering how the heck their house is so clean 24/7. Then I realize it’s because they’re never there. We live in our house all day everyday. 3 kids and myself so it’s always a mess around here 🙈

I am a SAHM as a necessity and we don’t stay home because we’d all go crazy. We do the same; go for walks, go to the library, any free local events or sometimes a $5 open gym. Everything is less than 5 miles so minimal gas is used. I count those things as going out because you’re not sitting at home. It gets old but it’s so much better than feeling stir crazy not leaving.

Alloootttt of credit card debt is how they do it, how I remind myself seeing those videos too. I’m thankful not being in credit card debt to show off to other people.

I don’t even have a car to go anywhere. One vehicle family and my husband leaves for work before the kids leave for school and doesn’t get home until after they do. Also 2 of my kids are special needs so it would be hard to go anywhere by myself with them when they weren’t in school.

This right here!!! I’ve been told that it’s not fair that I don’t have to have a job, but they don’t realize that we can’t afford to do recreational activities AT ALL.

I can totally relate. We also only have one car cause we can’t afford 2. We either walk everywhere we go or I’ll drop my husband off 45 mins away and have to go pick him back up when he’s done. We have to do that for appointments or if we find something free or fun to do

I’m legally blind so I’m home with my kids all the time. Not all stay at home moms are held at the same level some are just moms playing house.

I'm a disabled veteran who is a sahm and I homeschool so I get multiple discounts, everyone's finances are different. Some people are going into debt while doing it but thankfully that's not me, between the discounts I get, I also pack snacks and meals, I can stay with my family when I go to Florida so I wouldn't be paying for hotels.
Don't feel bad about not being able to do something like others are. comparison is a thief of joy.
I'm sure you're a great mother regardless of going to all these places or not.
