@swiss14: 🎶 Yodel-ay-HEEE-Oooo… it’s official! 🇨🇭 Yodeling has just been added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List, following a nomination submitted by Switzerland in 2024. 📜 A true emblem of Swiss culture, yodeling takes countless forms and remains deeply rooted in the population. This unique vocal technique alternates between chest voice and head voice, using nonsensical syllables often tied to local dialects. 🗣️ Passed down in families, clubs, music schools, or simply among singers, yodeling remains a vibrant and widely shared practice. Today, it brings together more than 12,000 yodelers who belong to one of the 711 groups of the Swiss Yodeling Association, not to mention all those who yodel informally. A living, ever-evolving tradition: many contemporary artists continue to draw inspiration from it and keep it resonating.
