if you want to plan ahead, new Bedford has a scallop festival 4th of July week. I've gone in the past and it's the best fried scallops I've ever had in my life

New Bedford does get a bad rap. I have lived there my whole life and enjoyed living in the city. That have done a lot to make the appearance better. I now live in North Shore in Lynn. I moved due to my family living up in this part of the state. But miss a lot of my favorite restaurants and the waterfront.
