@curtisagardner: I’ve seen techs add 10–20 hours a week by doing one thing differently. They didn’t stay late. They didn’t come in early. They tracked their hours and set real goals. That’s why I built the Technician Scorecard. Link in bio if you want to stop guessing and start tracking. #TechnicianLife #FlatRate #CareerGrowth
I track mine because our writers don’t pay us correctly

I averaged 168 hours for the year. Granted I work in collision, we tend to make more hours at a lower rate. I track down to the point. Track your hours, you will make more.

Tracking hrs is important. Always did it at independent shops. Now as a team lead at a dealer. I track my teams hrs when we come back from lunch just to give us perspectives.

I teach all my apprentices to track their hours! It’s a positive discipline and you wouldn’t believe the lost hours incorrectly paid to other techs!

Make an excel or Google sheet, track your jobs and hours. If not to just hold advisors and service managers accountable for paying you correctly. I couldn't break 20 flagged hours as an hourly tech back in July, started tracking every little thing and presenting it to the desk - low and behold I started hitting 25-35 hours almost every week.
