As someone who done strict calorie deficits and macro tracking (measured and tracked every single bite of food, oil sprayed, etc) without a glp1 AND with a glp1, I think I can safely say that the benefits are NOT just about controlling appetite and cravings. My body definitely has a harder time metabolizing fat on its own, which glp1 helps with. Calorie deficits always work eventually, but I definitely lost weight faster on a glp1 than without even with the same calories and macros. I’ve been off the glp1 for a long time now and maintaining the weight has been easy, it’s removing the excess fat that is difficult for some bodies

Me to client: the key to losing weight is a deficit. Them: no I’ve tried that. Also them: I am on a glp and I’m losing weight. Me: oh you’re now in a deficit. Them: yes and eating less has been great. Huh?

dinksareworsethanvegans :
Yes correct. But it also reduces inflammation. Which helps you feel better and want to work out. I understand it’s a calorie deficit. But maintaining the calorie deficit needed (1200 calories in my case and many women’s) is not realistic when you feel a chemical response to food like an addiction. The addiction goes away so you can eat less. But that’s ok too- why are we so mad at ozempic bro.

It’s can be different for guys to understand what food noise is. Not that you’re wrong but it ties into eating disorders. It’s a literally mental health issue. I hear it all the time still and lost over 50 pounds but keep relapsing into my ed I developed in high school

Food noise is a thing. GLP-1 also helps regulate blood sugar for those of us who are insulin resistant. Idk why ppl feel the need to judge how someone gets healthier.

Question though. When you eat do you immediately think about the next food you’re going to eat? Like over and over until you eat again and it starts over? Like I didn’t know what food noise was thought it was normal until it was gone. I had no idea people didn’t think about food all day long.

Why do you people even care what medications others take? Like you all think it’s just about lazy people taking the easy way out. Look at what diabetes does to the human body. My dad was taking like 20 different medications a day. He had both of his legs amputated, 4 strokes, kidney failure, dementia and a fatal heart attack. Medications like these are saving our health care system trillions. It’s preventing so many unnecessary deaths.

Fasting does that too. I was always overweight until I had babies. I’m pregnant my 4th so obviously I’m not doing it now. But fasting controls far more than just calorie intake.

Because it slows got emptying, you can be in a calorie surplus and still lose weight. Also, a lot of older women are having issues with weight loss related to inflammation of their digestive system. That cuts down on the inflammation. So what you’re saying is one aspect of it, but it’s not the whole picture

I’ve lost 80lbs twice without ozempic and while I’m glad it’s helping people get healthier for themselves and their kids and overall a good thing for people who wouldn’t have been able to do it without it, it makes me jealous that I had to suffer through & discipline myself and don’t get a prize for doing it naturally.

Friend of a friend :
Ppl underestimate food noise. Imagine yourself at your most hormonal (for the young men) where you constantly thought about sex or pleasure. Where even something innocuous caused a physical reaction. That’s the same feeling as food noise. It’s constantly on your mind and it’s something everyone naturally does, so it’s not regulated like drugs. But it’s still something you can become dependent on and your brain rewards you for doing it.

It makes your set weight about 20 % lighter. So your body fights to be at that reduced weight, instead of your current weight.
