If he lost time at work, I would’ve counter sued for lost time at work for the embarrassment of being put in jail and anything else I would’ve got I could’ve got out of it for saving her life. She was just looking for money. He should’ve returned the favor.

She was probably unwisely led to this action to sue by her lawyer, who may have structured a "no fees if we lose, and a % of the award if we win". Daniel should have counter-sued for costs / the court should have awarded costs to Daniel.
