the amount of racism in the comments towards businesses that will feed you well for under $5. You all deserve to pay $25 for a salad

It’s almost as if once you remove the multi billion dollar corporations, the greedy private equity firms, at executives demanding nine figure salaries, the world suddenly becomes more efficient, 😆

This leaves out what is obviously the biggest cost - rent. A lot of these buildings are handed down through generational Chinatown residents who continue the tradition of Chinatown rather than jacking up rent for a cava

When I was in my 20s, the $2 dumplings at Vanessa's were one of the only things I could afford to eat when I was in NY--thank god for them!!

many of these businesses also benefit from owning there buildings that were purchased decades ago and paid off, so no massive mortgage payment and interest to cover. No annual Rent increases either. Independent supply chains still make the most difference in the cost of food.

I lived in the LES in my (broke) 20s and close proximity to Chinatown was the only way I could afford to eat most of the time. The food is also some of the best in the city by FAR. God bless Chinatown!

I appreciate the hard work and ingenuity of the immigrant communities! This is what we would have if America was run by small businesses rather than billionaires!
