🚨Handling victim behaviour👇 When we’re managing or working with someone who has a tendency to play the victim whenever we try to pull them up on something it can be very frustrating. This behaviour can be a way to avoid accountability. Some people are not aware that they’re doing it. When someone plays the victim out natural reaction will often be to criticise them but this actually plays into the dynamic and gives them even more reason to play the victim! Instead try to remain calm and assertive but resist the temptation to step into the dynamic. Respond in ways that create accountability. For example: “This conversation isn’t about attributing blame- I’m simply trying to understand what led you to react in that way and explore how you could express yourself differently going forward?” “This isn’t about you shutting up this is about [INSERT] I’m curious how could you [INSERT]?” If they still play the victim I would ask them to go away and give it some thought. Sometimes after reflection they may adjust their attitude, if not you will need to set boundaries.    📌 Please be mindful that the approach shown in this video will not fit every situation so always use your own judgement and adapt it to suit your own circumstances. You’ve got this! 💬 Have you ever been in this situation?
