Yes get a second opinion, I had one great psychiatrist who wasn’t just trying to get me on meds and I loved her. When I had to get a new psychiatrist all she wanted to do was get me on meds even though I told her I wasn’t interested because I’m not ok with the long term effects.

When Killers Get Caught :
I REALLY liked CBT. I was on a depression med because I was so low that I just laid in bed every day and didn’t go anywhere and the medication they gave me helped kind of give me a kickstart in my morning to get out of bed. I think I was only on it for about a year though. It wasn’t something that I needed perpetually forever. My therapist and I went through a lot of my trauma with CBT and I felt like it was very, very helpful. I still almost a decade later. Use a lot of the things that she taught me to help me deal with my anxiety and my depression. These days, I only have flareups for lack of a better word around certain holidays or certain painful dates for me. You absolutely can find a future where you aren’t dependant on medication. Like I’ve gotten so good at it now that I can just tell my boyfriend “ I am having a lot of automatic negative thoughts today and I need you to just validate that everything will be OK” and 10 years ago I would just fixate on all of the potential negatives that could happen and freak myself out to the point where I was terrified to do anything and spiral out of control.

I have ocd and ptsd. I was against meds too but sometimes Youre anxiety is so high that you can’t relax enough to open up to get really get into what the root issue is. Some of us( me) are literally petrified and is even difficult medicated but I’ve made sooo much progress because I’ve been able to have a better handle the anxiety so I can go deeper. But yeah I don’t think you have bi polar. Also remember that the psychiatrist job is literally to prescribe meds

For sure. I saw a psychiatrist before and although it was depression & anxiety which I heavily agree… they were prescription HAPPY. I declined & went to a psychologist for therapy. I rather deal with the issue baby not be on meds.

Mania is a major part of bipolar disorder 1. Please get a 2nd opinion. I personally have it and don’t take medication.

Yeah allllwayssss get a second opinions. Autism and ADHD in women can “seem” like Bipolar. Also depression and anxiety is the “literal definition” of bipolar. It’s up and down.

Definitely get a second opinion but as someone with generalized bipolar disorder (not 1 or 2) moods don't have to be extreme and you don't have to go into psychosis to have it. My losing touch with reality manifests as paranoia. Not thinking the fbi is coming to get but feeling like everyone is against me or has a secret agenda to harm me. Have you researched PMDD bc that is a mood disorder too. Not giving advice just sharing experience.

Umm I don’t know which therapist you saw but as an LCSW, I’ve been diagnosing for 15 yrs. We can’t give meds so yes, that’s when I’ll recommend someone see a psychiatrist. Also, at 27 yrs old, it’s a bit late to be diagnosing with Bipolar one. You would’ve shown symptoms years ago.
