My mates still just talk about drinking to me or talk about them drinking and using over Christmas, it’s proper triggering cause I just remember all the times I was doing it but how am I supposed to say to them that it’s bothering me?

It almost took my little brother from me, he was so deep in his addiction he didn’t care if he lived or died until one day he reached out and was ready. He ended up having a stroke during his early days (do not go cold turkey from alcohol & drugs, you need proper support to wean off) He’s not the same person he was (which isn’t all bad) but he is clean, sober and living. Surround yourself with people who genuinely care and love you! Anyone you’ve ever done it with don’t really care about you! He was the life and soul, everyone in the pub loved him and when he was on deaths door his actual friends and family were there for him he saw who really loved him.

I have cut so many friends off that because I realised addiction was our only “thing” then there were “friends” that would do the whole “it’s just one” 24 days sober now
