When you cross the border. It can all depend. The officers decide. I was given 3 months the last time. And if you don’t cross back by the date, you may lose your rights to cross again.

3 of the main reasons I was told your L1A ( 3 years) and your i-94 don’t have same dates. 1 passport expiration dates 2- when the enter your L1A the make a typo forget the A or 3 the put a B before the 1A. The I-94 date is set by CBP, not USCIS. CBP almost all the time give you shorter stay when it’s your first L1A.

It is similar for visitors to Canada. It’s 6 months, UNLESS the border officer mandates otherwise. It is always at the discretion of the border officer.
