My mom had 12 brothers and sisters so I have a lot of cousins and you're right when my grandmother passed away in 1985 we stopped having family get togethers

To add to this, I grew up around my cousins but we all realized there is no way we would have hung out with each other is because we were family and in proximity to each other if we were not related we would not be friends. We are all adults now and not made to spend time with each other.

For me, my parents get along with our siblings, but we live in Florida now, and everyone else lives in the northeast. We would visit a lot when we lived in New York. Now it’s just too expensive for frequent visits.

ya we aren't close at all. my grandma died and she was the glue holding everyone together. I barely recognize my cousins and their kids are like "who is that?"

My maternal grandmother died about 8 years ago. Every year that side of my family would get together and have thanksgiving and Xmas combined. we haven't done it sense. My mother and her siblings legitimately cannot stand each other.

I have ONE cousin and it's on my father's side. I don't speak to my father's side. if my uncle would've had children we would've been around each other alot. we were always at our uncles house 😂

this is true. we used to eat Sunday dinner at my granny's every week. she passed 20 yrs ago and we don't even do holidays together. my holidays are just me my kids and my grandson. I'm the granny now.
