I think a separate, kids-focused performance is a great thing. It would be distracting for folks who want a quiet environment but it’s so wonderful to see them engaged and enthusiastic too!

I cried at my niece's Nutcracker performance (she's 5) because I was just thinking about how many generations of dancers have been taught the Nutcracker and performed it, thats so special.

this is great! more kids should be involved in the fine arts! and, imo, more audiences should be more engaged in performances. I understand wanting to be quiet to be respectful, but laughing at appropriate times, clapping at big moments, reacting with amazement or shock at twists, those things give energy to the performers!!

We used to do mini performances for elementary schools when I was in college. These were for musicals so we did The Sound of Music one year and I was fortunate enough to be cast as Liesl. One of the songs we did was ofc “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the children absolutely LOST IT over the kiss at the end! I even had one little boy tell me to wait bc he was going to grow to marry me 😭

As a child my school took us to see A Wrinkle in Time and I can honestly say I was mesmerized. I didn't want to leave so I can't imagine what this woke up for them ☺💕
