Hence why it’s illegal for a dealer to sell a vehicle without having proper ownership documents first in Michigan. Can’t even have it on the floor without having title in hand

I had a dealer call me back a week after all paperwork was done. Everything was settled to try and tell me that my trade wasn’t actually worth what they estimated it at and that I had to come out of pocket another $500 to make it worth their while I just ignored them.

There’s a huge dealership in Utah that it’s known for selling cars to people who don’t qualify, then they charge $1,000’s for mileage damage etc. when they return the car. It’s so bad a lot of people here won’t take delivery until the loan is approved

A dealership did that to me and I said no. They sold me the more expensive car and physically meant to give me a cheaper one. I said that’s their problem. I’m not doing it and I didn’t. I kept the car.

I had this experience when I bought a used Toyota Tacoma, drove off off the site had the truck for a few days. Then a couple days later, the dealer called me to let me know that they didn’t own the title and offered me a new truck for the same price if I returned it. Worked out great for me, sticker price difference was about $7000 in 2001.

We had this happen. Bought a car. Financing went through. It was delivered and the next day we were told they would need to get it the next day as the car fax vs another auto check showed a wreck and they couldn’t finance it

What if you are given a letter of contract cancellation and you call the dealership and they tell you to “not worry about it, it is something standard we send out when funding with the dealership” that happened to me recently and threw me for a loop.

I bought a car the dealership didn't own the car, they refused to help register it months ago, got tickets, got a lawyer then totaled the car and payout had previous owner listed on check. got 110k on a 10k car. they sent the vp of sales from Sonic Automotive to court and he said it was my fault I picked out that car. I saw it on TV, it was on the front lot AND I was the 2nd person that bought it that week. the 1st person got it for his daughter and she didn't like it and brought it back.

I had a bank back out 2 weeks after driving it off the lot.. My bank was already closed. First reason.. I lied on loan app, I didn’t own a company because my name wasn’t listed on the Secretary of State website. Second time, 2 more weeks later.. I didn’t disclose additional mortgages in my name. I only have 1 mortgage, it was disclosed. I was informed I had to return the vehicle immediately to the dealership. Called my bank, 3 hours later I pulled in and handed them a check.
