I owned an old car and took it to a mechanic for an oil change. The mechanic told me to also change the transmission oil. I did, and within six months the transmission failed. A friend later told me that changing the transmission oil in an old car can cause the transmission to fail. That happened in 1996. Since then, I have never changed the transmission oil in any car I’ve owned.

My c6 trans had the original fluid from 1979 in it, never had the pan off and it didn’t even look like that😂😂

Clutch material? The black material in the fluid is definitely clutch material. The metal pieces I’m willing to bet are thrust bearings/spacers.

I have f150 with that trans and it has 120 thousand on it . I pull a camper as well i have never had a problem

If you flush that transmission it is unlikely will make it out of the shop without it going bad

I had a 6l80 that looked like that with 800 miles on the rebuild. Unit ran 280f or more.

Amsoil ATF is the only thing my transmissions will ever see. Heat kills transmissions.
